A new feature is set to be introduced, allowing users to add videos to their profile
Covid 19 has in many ways fundamentally changed our lives. From remote work to the way we interact with people, the pandemic has forced humanity to adapt. Given the social distancing norms around the world, dating apps like tinder and bumble have devised clever new features within their apps to enable remote/virtual dating. Bumble has introduced a Video Chat and Voice Calling feature to their application, allowing users to match and go on “Virtual Dates”. They have also added other new features to their application.
Tinder ventures into Video and Social Experiences
Now, Tinder is set to introduce a new feature enabling users to add videos to their profiles. Until now, the dating app allowed for still images on a profile, but with this new addition, the company is finally getting into the video experience space. With over 65 Billion matches worldwide, tinder is the most popular dating application, so it’s quite surprising that it took them so long to adapt to the pandemic. Jim Lanzone CEO of Tinder said “Tinder is overwhelmingly the most popular way to make meaningful new connections around the world”.
He also added “Meanwhile, a new generation of daters is asking for more from us in the post-Covid world: more ways to show off their authentic selves, more ways to have fun and interact with others virtually, and more control over who they meet on Tinder and how they communicate. They also want to date in a less linear fashion, at their own pace, and with the hope that sparks might fly with someone unexpected. Today’s launch lays down the building blocks for all of this and more – a deeper, multi-dimensional experience that expands the possibilities of Tinder as a platform.”
Match Group Inc recently acquired hyper connect, a video technology company for 1.73 Billion USD. The Purchase further emphasizes the matchmaking company’s foray into “Social Experiences”.
