Two years ago, 5G – enabled smartphones like Moto G Stylus 5G were hardly available and almost nonexistent. Fast-forward to the present day and here we are with a variety of 5g phones to choose from. With LG’s exit from the smartphone industry, Motorola uses it as an opportunity to take its place behind Apple and Samsung in terms of volume in the US smartphone industry. So, launching a 5G phone with a low price seems like a better idea, right? Let’s find out if the Moto G Stylus 5G is worth the money.
Design and Specs of Moto G Stylus 5G:
We have seen Motorola evolving from foldable to their flagship devices like edge and Edge Plus but this time with a cheap and a powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor, that comes with 6 GB of ram, 256 GB of storage which can be expanded up to one terabyte along with a micro SD card and a battery of 5000mAh and of course including the 5g connectivity and the Stylus. This is the third edition of the Moto G stylus series.
The first one was released in 2020 and the second, Moto G Stylus 2021, in January 2021 followed by the June launched Moto G Stylus 5G. This looks similar to its predecessor with the same screen size of 6.8 inches, 1080 -by-2400 pixel display, and the same camera system. This comes in a new cosmic emerald color which is a rich glossy green finish. It comes with the hyped new Android 11.0 and a redesigned stylus. This is a water repellent device with a nano-coating on its top, though it doesn’t mention any IP rating.
Interesting features in Moto G Stylus 5G:
The stylus is completely round (unlike, Samsung’s squarish stylus), which makes it easy to completely fit into the bottom right corner of the phone along with a software notification that reminds you whenever it is removed and there’s an option to record the location of whenever you last took it out.
The phone’s performance was good while jumping between heavy apps, there was only a minimal lag overall, which is turning out to be quite common in budget phones these days. And the battery can easily last up to 48 hours, even after a full day of use. Considering the price, this phone is a one killer level in battery range.
This device offers four cameras – a 48MP main, an 8MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor with a 16MP selfie camera. It gives good photos in daylight by processing 48MP pixel images into 12MP images. The macro camera gives a good detailed view of the object. Low-light selfies with night mode and portrait mode are improved in this 5G device. Gaming is also fine with this phone unless you are looking for games with many resources, which is way beyond its worth for the stylus 5G at this price of $399.
Final thoughts:
The Moto G Stylus 5G is a good phone especially after their disappointing G series phones earlier this year, but it comes with its drawbacks like its big size which is uncomfortable for many users, a midrange performance, and night camera not up to the mark. The major downside of this device, it has only two years of software updates to it. But if you are interested in a stylus that makes writing easy and with a new range of fun doodles, especially at the midrange price, then this must be on your list. But Moto G Stylus 5G isn’t quite the best outcome of their game-changing idea with minimal changes than their previous one.
