Apple is hosting this coming Monday i.e., October 18th event. After months of rumors regarding updates to Mac, we might be able to get some definitive answers. The company’s Senior vice president of marketing Greg Joswiak said that the event will cause the next six days to “speed by,” could it be a possible hint towards some new, faster processors.
What to expect from Apple’s October 18th Event?
The new event is called “Unleashed”. There have been persistent rumors regarding 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, possibly with a new “M1X” chip, the successor of the M1. The floating rumors are circling about a new industrial design that matches the blockier iPhone 13, the elimination of the touch bar, along with the addition of more ports, including HDMI as well as an SD card slot. MagSafe has come back on the iPhone, and there are speculations that it might return to the MacBook. Few reports suggest that Apple may be considering mini-LED displays.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro, which runs on Intel processors, hasn’t been updated since its launch, dating back two years. As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, it’s hard to track down, and it is unavailable at many Apple stores. The same chip is expected to be used for the refreshed Mac Mini. The MacBook Pro, as well as the Mac Mini, still use Intel for high-end models. This could be a step forward for Apple in its process of eliminating Intel’s processors.
Out of all the rumors, the biggest one being about the third-gen AirPods, which were absent from Apple’s September iPhone and iPad event. Though Apple still has a handful of other Intel-based devices, like the Mac Pro desktops and the 27-inch iMac, the buzz regarding them has been thin. We’ll have to wait till 10 a.m. PT on October 18, to see what will unfold at the event.
