Facebook‘s instant messaging system makes it easy to connect with friends. Facebook also provides the user tools to delete messages with just a tap or a click. 

Spoiler Alert – If you want the message to be permanently deleted so that no one can see it – including the recipients – you have to do so in the first 10 minutes after you send the text. After 10 minutes, the timer runs out on unilateral destruction. Thus, you can only remove it from your own phone and computer, however, the recipients would still be able to see it. 

How to delete Facebook messages on mobile? 

1. Open the Messenger app. 
2. In the conversation from which you want to delete a message, tap and hold the message. 
3. At the bottom of the window that appears, select “Remove.” 
4. If you are trying to delete the message within 10 minutes of sending, click on”Remove for Everyone” or “Remove for You.” If you are past the time limit, the only option you can see will be “Remove for You.” 

How can you delete an entire Facebook conversation on mobile? 

1. Start the Facebook Messenger app, then go to the Chats view, here you can see all of your conversations. 
2. Locate the conversation you want to delete, then swipe it to the left. 
3. Click on the Delete icon, shaped like a trash can. Confirm by clicking on “Delete Chat.” 

How can you delete a Facebook message on a computer? 

1. Open Facebook in your browser. 
2. On the left side of the window, click on “Messenger” to switch to your inbox. 
3. In the conversation, you want to delete a message, click on the three-dot menu that appears to the left/right of your message, then click on “Remove.”
