Britney Spears father steps down
Britney Spears father Jamie Spears has finally agreed to step down from the conservator role after 13-years. The pop star’s attorney on Thursday calls this a major victory and rightfully so. Spears was controlling most of his daughter’s matters since her mental health breakdown in 2008. The “Toxic” pop star has been pursuing for months to remove her father from any say in her life.
Britney Spears’s attorney has stated that they are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have conceded during a filing that he must be removed. Thursday’s court document didn’t mention exactly when Jamie Spears would be stepping down from this role, of handling his daughter’s $60 million estates, but said that he feels there’s no justification for his immediate removal or suspension. Jamie Spears is unable to digest the fact that a public battle against his daughter over his role as her conservator would be in her best interests.
Who is currently taking care of Britney?
Britney Spears, 39, remains under the care of Jodi Montgomery who takes care of Britney’s medical and private affairs. The singer’s mental health issues were never publically revealed. Spears didn’t perform since 2018 and has also commented that she will not be returning to the stage as long as her father has the ropes on her career. Spears spoke in June and July on the court-appointed conservatorship, how emotionally taxing it was, called it mortifying and abusive, and accused her father of wrecking her life. She didn’t make any immediate reference on Thursday to her father’s decision to step down.
Thursday’s court document has also shown that Jamie Spears believes he kept his daughter’s best interests always and has not dragooned her to try and do anything.
