How to rename your Windows PC?

Windows automatically assigns a random name to your PC. If you want to change this name, this article will show you how to do so. 

It is important to assign your pc a unique name, especially if it is connected to a network. This will make it easier to locate your PC on a network among several other machines. Your PC’s name will also appear in system information and in the devices list on the Microsoft site. 

If you change your PC’s name to something you can easily recognize ensures that your PC will always be identifiable. 

How to Rename Your Windows PC? 

This method uses Windows 11’s built-in Settings app to change the PC’s name. 

First, open the Settings app. You can do this by using the keyboard shortcut Windows + I.

In Settings, from the sidebar on the left, click on “System.” 

On the “System” page, scroll down to the bottom of the right pane, then click on “About.” 

A window titled “Rename Your PC” will open. In this window, click on the text field, then enter a new name for the PC.

At the bottom, click on “Next.” 

On the next screen of this window, click on “Restart Now” to restart the PC. This will bring the new name into effect. You have the ability to choose “Restart Later.” However, in that case, your PC will not use the new name until you restart it. 

When your PC restarts, it will use the newly given name. You can confirm this by navigating to Settings > System. At the top of the “System” page, you will be able to see your PC’s new name.
