AMC Theaters, or better known as the king of the meme stocks, as we mentioned earlier about AMC accepting Bitcoin as payment and that customers will have the ability to pay for tickets as well as concessions with Bitcoin by the end of the year, and that can be done now.
Bitcoin isn’t the only cryptocurrency you can use; AMC also accepts Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, as well as Litecoin for online purchases. CEO Adam Aron had made this announcement via a tweet (via CoinTelegraph). He also says that you can pay online using Apple Pay, Google Pay, as well as PayPal.
Note – Aron only highlighted payment methods for online purchases. So, it doesn’t sound like you can use crypto to buy anything in-person at theaters. Aron commented that the new payment methods “already account for 14 percent of our total online transactions,” however, it’s not clear if that number refers to cryptocurrencies or is inclusive of all the methods mentioned.
How to pay using Bitcoin at AMC Theaters?
At checkout on AMC’s website, PayPal is listed as a payment method with a note that says “supports cryptocurrencies.” That means you’ll have to log in using your PayPal account, then select any cryptocurrency that’s accessible there to pay for your tickets or concessions. PayPal appears to be the only way one can pay with cryptocurrency at AMC for the moment. So, if you would prefer to use a different method, you are fresh out of luck as of now. I never owned crypto in the first place, so the move doesn’t highly affect me.
What if you want to pay with Dogecoin? In Aron’s words, that’s “next”. The company is looking into the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency, as well.
