The tech giant Google and the automobile giants Volkswagen and Toyota are developing new car operating systems. Digitimes Research says the software has been almost in every field now the automobile companies are attracting towards creating their Operating System to give more premium features to their vehicles.
The Trendsetter:
This trend of having the integrated operating system for the vehicles was created by Tesla, later on, it was continued by the other automobile companies and the Internet giant Google has started developing Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) to integrate the AAOS into the upcoming vehicles to create Android application ecosystem into vehicles. The giant manufacturers who produce more than 10 million units per annum like Volkswagen and Toyota are under developing the integrated software Operating system for their vehicles.
Google Car Operating System:
Google’s AAOS has the key new features like upgraded voice assistant and user-friendly mapping systems which can be operated from a central controlling system. This new AAOS will be set to be adopted for the upcoming vehicles from Volvo and General Motors (GM) and other companies by the end of 2021.
Volkswagen:
Volkswagen is also currently working on its integrated operating system VW.OS 2.0 and planning to release in 2024, based on the bugs that will be collected in the 2024 version will be rectified in the 2025 version with the software updates.
Toyota:
Meanwhile, another automobile giant Toyota is also working on its integrated operated system, Arena OS. These new Arena OS and software development kits are developing by third-party software developers through GitHub. GitHub is an open-source network where software developers work collaboratively. There, the developers are working together to design the Arena OS-related applications. With these Car Operating systems, the customers can enjoy more features like controlling their car’s electrical options from their Android phones, locating and tracking the current location of their vehicle, and many more features.
